Can it last?
I don’t know if I have the patience to last until the end of July. I am usually a very patient person but now, with this bullshit, I don’t know how long I can last.
My apartment building is located on a very interesting block. There is
1. one concert hall
2. three restaurants
3. one pet groomed
4. one dry cleaner
5. two love hotels
6. a men’s apparel shop
7. a tattoo shop
8. a hair salon
Now the interesting thing here is the Love hotels. My theory is that because of the way houses and apartment buildings are built here (about two arm lengths or less from each) people can not fuck/ make love at home. Not without scaring your neighbors, children, and your thousand year old mom and dad who guilt tripped you into letting them move in. So with all of those concerns the love hotel was created. At one of the love hotels next to my building you can pay ¥4200 and fuck for about 4 hours.

I like to pretend that I can hear the people panting and screaming. If you’ve ever seen Japanese porn you would expect to hear screaming too.
I actually like the love hotels. Unfortunately the one below me has closed down. I imagine it is slowly being converted into a daycare for all the “love” children of japan.
The conversion is the problem. The tearing and banging began the last week of May and metamorphosed into loud banging and actual jackhammering. The love hotel used to take up the first, second, and third floors of my building. I live on the fourth in a corner. Any time they start jackhammering on the walls or floor downstairs it sounds like they are doing it in my room… beside my head. I suppose I should take joy in the fact that they don’t start until about 9 and they hold off on the jackhammer until about 10, but I can’t. The noise has been getting so loud that I find it difficult to stay in my apartment and I worry about Barry. I think is so nerve racking to him that he can’t sleep. His coat is looking a bit ragged and he stays quiet for long periods of time. When I check on him he isn’t sleeping. He just sits there alert.
I was exceptionally pissed about the noise today and so I called my landlord about the noise. They, it is actually a company, apologized and informed me that the construction is scheduled to last until the end of July or the beginning of August. I don’t know if I can make it that long. I feel that I will end up calling them again and again. I wonder if I can get a free month of rent out of this crap.
Probably not, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

Sorry to hear about your noise problem.
